Research and Development
Borne out of academia in 1996, 21CSI started as a computer science research and development company. Participating in the U.S. Government's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, 21CSI began performing intelligent agent research and development and was a pioneer in the integration of agent-based computing into decision support system applications.
- Today, our R&D efforts continue to "push the envelope" in the realms of video analysis, artificial intelligence, and decision support.
- 21CSI continues to participate in the SBIR and STTR programs. We have been awarded over 50 Phase I and Phase II efforts from the Army, Navy, Air Force, OSD, DARPA, DOE, DHS, and more.
- 21CSI has a proven track record of aggressive, successful commercialization of SBIR/STTR projects as evidenced by our Commercialization Achievement Index of 100 (five years in a row), the highest possible score. Our consistently perfect commercialization index says, “No one does this better than 21CSI does.” Our diligent efforts have been rewarded with over $30 million in Phase III funding.
Software Engineering
As a natural extension to our intelligent agent research and development efforts, 21CSI also grew a robust software engineering capability.

- We recognized early on that an open architecture paradigm was key to effective, flexible product development. The need for a standardized, openly architected common software infrastructure led us to design and develop the AEDGE® application toolkit using our own internal funding.
- The AEDGE® toolkit is a service-oriented agent environment that enables the development of componentized decision support systems as AEDGE-based applications.
- The AEDGE toolkit is used both as an application development platform and a run time environment that provides reusable components, libraries, and bridges to third party products.
Decision Support Products
21CSI builds solid decision support products by leveraging the technologies and experience gained from our research and development activities.
- We research, design, develop and deliver decision support software tools to help decision makers control and respond to complex, high-stress, rapidly changing environments. The software manages complex data flows from numerous sources and analyzes it to create actionable knowledge tailored according to user needs. Intelligent agents embedded in the software then provide decision alternatives in real time. The use of agents also enables the software to adapt, respond, and learn from individual users in a variety of situations.
- 21CSI’s intelligent decision support software tools range from submarine warfare tactical decision aids and mission planning, monitoring and reconstruction systems, to automated geo-spatial-based command and control for disaster preparedness and response, to multi-mission distributed space situational awareness, to distributed automated intelligence analysis. They include integrated security, surveillance and infrastructure protection systems, and are used in commercial as well as military settings.

- Our Customer Technical Support is capable of providing 24x7 support services for small and large organizations. The Support Center is staffed with fully trained Help Desk Institute (HDI) certified technicians with the ability to provide one hour response times to client requirements. The Support Center is able to handle support incident requests via phone, email, chat, onsite, and web-based support.
