21CSI to Demonstrate Critical Technology for New Integrated Swimmer Defense System
21st Century Systems, Inc. (21CSI) announced that it is participating in a demonstration of the Navy's new underwater defense system, known as Integrated Swimmer Defense (ISD). The event will take place on August 14 at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Narragansett Bay, RI. Attending the demonstration of the advanced ISD system, and of 21CSI's unique integrating technology, will be top Navy officials, program officers and others associated with the program.
ISD is being developed through a joint industry-Navy collaboration and will be used to provide security and surveillance for a variety of assets. It will protect Navy ships and harbors from the threat of clandestine swimmers who often are the most difficult threats to detect and defend against. Unlike many other security systems, ISD is applicable for both fixed, US- based ports and expeditionary use giving the Navy the flexibility to use it to protect vessels both at their designated homeport and overseas.
21CSI is providing SentinelNet™ as the integrating software for ISD, linking sonar systems, radars, infrared cameras, and other surveillance equipment to provide round-the-clock, real time data for immediate detection and decision-making. Based on the company’s already mature High Resolution Situational Awareness (HiRSA™) program, this technology further advances the state of electronic surveillance and decision-support.
Chairman and CEO of 21CSI, Jeffrey D. Hicks remarked, “Integrated Swimmer Defense is on the forefront of maritime security and surveillance technology, and represents a further application of our force protection product line. 21CSI is honored to be engaged in the task of supplying unique solutions to help the U.S. Navy defend against the uncertainties of current and future threats.”
