21st Century Systems, Inc. Wins Navy/OSD Contract for fuel management & efficiency

21st Century Systems, Inc. announced that work will begin on a Phase I SBIR Navy/OSD
contract "Vehicle Intelligent Performance Enabled Retrofit" (VIPER) for the Navy and the
Office of the Secretary of Defense.
The VIPER project is designed to use "commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)" technology where
possible to provide after-market real-time capability to determine the health and readiness of
tactical and non-tactical vehicles so as to maintain maximum fuel economy and readiness among
a military unit/force that is located over a large geographical area. Vehicle embedded sensors,
monitors and processors will offer advice to the operator, while an off-board system will collect
the information to provide maintenance related prognostics and logistics reports.

21st Century Systems, Inc. Wins Navy Contract

21st Century Systems, Inc. announced that it will begin work on a Phase I SBIR Navy contract
"Parametric Structures for Integrative Backscatter models and Environmental
Database" (PSIBED) to provide an understanding of how sound waves interact with the sea
floor. The contract is for 6 months, with an option for an additional 3 months. The work is
directly useful to the Navy for use in deploying sound sensors at the bottom of the ocean.
Ultimate plans are for it to be used by operations under the Ocean Bottom Characterization
Initiative and the Littoral Battlespace Sensing, Fusion & Integration (LBSF&I) program.
The LBSF&I program will produce a huge database of ocean properties such as temperature,
salinity and sound speed (velocity), wave (surface/internal) characteristics, water currents,
environmentally induced ambient acoustic noise characteristics and optical properties. Data
collected in PSIBED will be assimilated into the database.

Scryer, a directions kiosk with a 3-D display, is 21CSI's
most recent commercial product. Unveiled in Omaha's
Peter Kiewit Institute at the end of January, the Scryer
has been helping students and other visitors find their
way to offices and classrooms.
Built with 21CSI's Decision Support technology, the
Scryer has a touch-screen menu and keyboard for
visitors to select their destination or the location of a
specific room. The Scryer provides both a typical topview
map and 3-D "fly-through" directions to that
destination. Fast-to-display vector graphics of each
location provide a detailed view of landmarks seen enroute
to help the user quickly and efficiently get to their
destination. Scryer can be used for multi-building
complexes as well as single buildings.

21st Century Systems, Inc. ® announced today the award of three Small Business contracts worth nearly $700,000.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded a Phase I Small Business
Technology Transfer (STTR) contract worth $99,000 to 21CSI to research and develop a small,
automated human detection system. 21CSI will be assisted by the Missouri State University in this effort.
Known as "Digital-Tripwire," the project will use imaging sensors and automated target recognition to
improve security, perimeter defense and stealth surveillance. The first phase of this effort is expected to
take ten months.
