Integrated with the rest of the AEDGE® framework, the AEDGE-3D® visualization software is 21CSI's 3-dimensional graphics engine for high resolution geospatial and scientific visualization. Featuring detailed models of buildings, trees, humans, vehicles (civilian and military) and terrain, and using advanced rendering techniques, the AEDGE-3D software is everything needed to produce high-fidelity visualizations for simulation and situational awareness that look and behave realistically. AEDGE-3D evolved as an internally developed visualization and 3D rendering engine for the AEDGE platform. As it matured, AEDGE-3D grew new capabilities and high performance requirements. Today AEDGE-3D offers interfaces to two well-established gaming rendering engines and to the open source NASA World Wind geospatial visualization engine. All that power can be easily integrated with any AEDGE-based application through a Java-based AEDGE-3D application bridge API.

Several 21CSI products already use the AEDGE-3D engine for advanced visualization:
  • HiRSA® Force Protection Software uses AEDGE-3D to display sensor fields and coverage areas that greatly depend on terrain and building occlusions
  • HiGRND™ First Responder situational awareness application utilized AEDGE-3D in order to depict first responders in an intuitive building environment.
  • The Submarine Tactical Planner (SubTaP) uses the engine's geospatial visualization for its 3D situational awareness display
  • The Scryer® way-finding kiosk uses the AEDGE-3D engine as the backbone for its interactive 3D building and route display
  • The Ship Location Display (SLD), an interactive stateroom display for the Celebrity Cruise Solstice class ships, uses the AEDGE-3D engine for its rendering of the ship's location, route, and planned destinations
